Hi all. Reading this board is bringing back a lot of great
memories. I could cry because I've missed guard so much since
leaving high school and going to a college with no marching
band or guard! (ugh!)
But, I'm taking a position as the guard instructor for a small
local high school who (right now) only has a parade band for
summer, and I'm looking for some tips or new insights on how things
are these days. I did 5 years of guard in high school and a little
work after, but graduated in 1990 and haven't done much except play
and write my own little routines for fun in the meantime. I could
use some advice on teaching methods and any new moves that I may not
have had back when I was in. (I feel so old!)

I hope that if things go well with the parade band we can eventually
get a winterguard started. I loved that more than field guard. It was
so much more intense.

Thanks for your help!

Heather
