I once saw a show where the Drum Majors spun their maces, and ended it by putting the mace on their shoulder and swinging it like a golf club, then the salute looked like they were looking for where the ball landed. Its hard to describe in words, but it was pretty cool. The band wasnt very good, but the drum majors got a standing ovation.

: : Hey! OK, here's the thing... I made Drum Major for my high school marching band. Being DM, I have to twilr a mace, and I've never twirled before this year. I've learned basic twirling techniques, left and right hand spins, and a few other neat tricks, but I'd like to lean more. I've found that since my mace is actually pretty large, it's helpful to study and talk to guard members to learn new twirling techniques to add to my showmanship. Since I'm the only one, I'm free to do basically whatever I want to do without having to worry abotu coordinating with anyone else. I'd lvoe to talk to anyone, either guard instructors or just guard members, b/c more than likely you know way more about this stuff than I do. :) My e-mail is tribal_skater@hotmail.com . PLEASE e-mail me... I think I'd enjoy talking to anyone who has had a flag slammed into their head just as many times I have had this mace slammed into mine. ;) Thanks!
