If there is anyway you can get a hold of a Cavaliers or Madison Scout video tape you can have a huge assortment of moves to choose from.
They do great with that type of theme.

Suggest you learn different sequences and name each of them. Then put them together with other movements to get you across the field or floor.
Add some dance moves to use with your equipment.

The way I create routines for my guard is I begin with counting out how many sets of eight I have (or whatever the music is in). I then make notations as to places in the music where big stuff can happen. I also work with the director in finding out where he wants the guard to be. Then I start playing around with it. When I was in HS and in the colorguard I had the rest of the guard come up with moves and we would use the best moves. (This also made the other members feel like they were contributing).
