new to guard, and i have to write routines...

my school just got a guard together this year, and we don't have a "real" instructor, and as captain (well, actually i'm co-captain, but i'm the one that does the work, more on that later) i have to write routines, and i'm at a loss having only been to one band day at umass, and one week of drum major's academy. for example, how do you time a throw? you time the catch or the toss? please help, we have a comp in two weeks, and i'm trying my best to make it work.
