Help On Winterguard....

What is winterguard? I know it probably sounds like a really stupid question, but I don't know. I'm in marching band, and now that marching season is over, I want something to take it's place. Is it reserved for only the regular colorguard, or can anyone join? More importaintly what is it? Thanx
